Outside of how offensive the whole article is, the one positive is that the reporter admits this is a relatively common hunting rifle. What next, the DWB - deer weapons ban?

buy it right after the election. If obama or billary win, then we all have a shopping list. isn't the house/senate pro gun anyways for the most part minus the loony ted kennedy and frauerstien and obama and clinton and a few others? if mccain wins, thats good, but if he doesn't, we can always win the house/senate, as the 1994 ban prooved, as many house and senate chairs were lost just because they voted for that bill.

Example of how news get reported: Sad but true!
A biker is riding by the zoo when he sees a little girl leaning into the lion's cage.
Suddenly, the lion grabs her by the cuff of her jacket and tries to
pull her inside to slaughter her, under the eyes of her screaming parents.
The biker jumps off his bike, runs to the cage, and hits the lion square on the
nose with a powerful punch.
Whimpering from the pain, the lion jumps back, letting go of the girl,
and the biker brings her to her terrified parents, who thank him endlessly.
A NY Times reporter has seen the whole scene and, addressing the biker,
says, 'Sir, this was the most gallant and brave thing I saw a man do in
my whole life.
"Why, it was nothing, really, the lion was behind bars. I just saw
this little kid in danger, and acted as I felt right."
Well, I'll make sure this won't go unnoticed.
I'm a journalist from the Philadelphia Inquirer you know, and tomorrow's paper will have this on thefront page. 'What motorcycle do you ride and what political affiliation do you have?'
'A Harley Davidson and I am a Republican.'
The journalist leaves.
The following morning the biker buys The New York Times to see if it
indeed rings news of his actions, and reads the first page:

> REPUBLICAN BIKER GANG MEMBER ASSAULTS AFRICAN IMMIGRANT AND STEALS > HIS
> LUNCH.

If either Hillary or Obama wins in November, prices are going to go to the moon overnight. I wouldn't wait until then, because even with vast increases in prices, people are going to buy like there's no tomorrow and stock of everything you would want is going to disappear well in advance of their coronation in January '09.

Frankly, McCain isn't a dead-lock to let us alone, either. He's unashamedly anti-gun:

http://www.gunowners.org/pres08/mccain.htm
http://www.ontheissues.org/Domestic/...un_Control.htm

Given the three frightening apparent options for President, buy it while it's still as cheap as it is today, and stack the sh*t out of it where you can.

yeah and i don't beleive ron paul has a chance to be the republician nominee. correct me if i'm mistaken and please explain it to me. Even so, mccain wants to do things to win, according to your links. if he wants to win presidency this time, he knows to not do anti-gun bills. bush is pro gun and last time, he was gearing up to try to compete with bush and gain support of anti-gunners. wrong to sell yourself to the people? yes, but he should hold us over until next election. I hope kerry runs again... a kerry and ron paul race would be a best case scenerio for us in 2012, because they are both pro gun

See I said it was an SKS, I would also like to know where in the blue donkey hell can I buy 800 rounds of 7.62x39 for 100 bucks if that is the case I have no need for them but hey I might as well stock up. Jesus these reporters will spin anything they can in order to sell papers and create controversy. I think the gun manufactures should sue the papers for defamation of character. That sure as hell would show them, battle frivolous law suits with justified law suits.

Greetings,
I'm the hack at the Idiotic Inquirer who wrote the story on the SKS.
First off, I didn't mean to ruffle your feathers.
I tried to contact about a half-dozen self-styled SKS experts but NOT ONE of them returned my calls or emails. So I was left to work with what I could find on the internet and my conversation with the ATF agent.
I'm not interested in getting into dust-ups with anyone. If I got the facts wrong... as one of you so eloquently put it 'garbage in, garbage out.'
This story is going to be sticking around for a while.
I'm asking for help.
On the surface, it appears that the assassination of the Philadelphia police sergeant-- with an SKS -- is being politicized. Officials are using the killing as an argument to introduce another assault weapons ban.
So my first question is this: Is the SKS an assault weapon or not. I asked Gov. Rendell that directly today at a press conference.
According to anti-gun groups, the SKS wasn't included under the 1994 ban. Is that correct? It's a carbine, right.? Could the SKS EVER be construed as an assault weapon. Is the SKS really "only used to kill and maim" human beings? Has it ever been considered a sport gun?
See where I'm going?
I'm not anti-gun. I'm not knee-jerk anything. I just want to get some honest answers.
If you're so inclined contact me at samwood@phillynews.com
thanks
sam

Sam, I do hope you stick around for answers. We have people here who you definitely should talk to, who can phrase answers much more eloquently than the majority of us here can. That being said, I'm going to refrain from answering your questions, and I hope others here who are as "un-eloquent" as I am will do the same. Finally we have a chance to set some records straight, let's NOT screw this up. Let the right people talk to him.
