Default ar-15 help

the latest build is my rra car A4 upper with the 2 stage trigger on a superior arms lower. the problem i have is that i am getting a really loud noise coming from the spring after i shoot. i know you sometimes here that but my armalite and bushmaster are not even close to the loudness for this one. It almost sounds as though its cracking and rubbing and is annoying when shooting.

So it's not the normal "sproinnnggg" sound?

Weird, does the buffer itself show any signs of wear? Have you tried swapping a spring/buffer from one of your other rifles to rule those out of the equation?

If it's the typical spring noise you can vitually eliminate it by a "light" coat of lithium grease on the entire spring. I do mean light!

+1 on the light grease.... I put I very thin coat of rig grease on the spring and in the tube and it helped alot with the buffer noise .... also maybe make sure the spring is the correct lenght and not too short and banging around ... definitely no expert on the AR , just some friendly advice

Grease it.
I use Garand Grease, (in the little brown pots with the yellow lids...)works like a charm. Never hear that spring again.

is your buffer tube installed correctly? should look like this, holds the pin in place but does not touch the center part of the pin and bind its movement
