Default Re: First experience with LEO while carrying.

I'd get an attorney, and take every legal step, both civil and criminal, against these officers and the PSP.

I'm pro-LEO here, but they seized your firearm ILLEGALLY. Then they seized your vehicle ILLEGALLY. On top of this, they "seized" you (here it is again.....wait for it......wait for it.....here it comes, right around the corner.....BOOM!) I-L-L-E-G-A-L-L-Y!!!!!!!!

If I had to be in your shoes, I'd make sure that those officer(s) are not only our of a job, but finding themselves in handcuffs as well!

Uneducated? I find that to be bullshit! "Not in database" is pretty well covered in Academy and MPOTEC updates from my understand (I'm not a LEO, but this is my understanding from friends and family who are).

Ignorance of the law is not an excuse for breaking it!

Just my $.02. Rant's over.

I can't remember if I read it here or elsewhere, but I once read a similar story of a man who was stopped and had his gun confiscated because he couldn't prove it was his. He was from out of state and so obviously there was no record of him purchasing it here. The gist of it was they assumed he stole it or something because he didn't have a sales receipt or other documentation proving otherwise. Guilty until proven innocent.

If anyone knows what story I'm talking about feel free to correct me, my memory isn't great.

Well, if this is on the up and up and once the dust settles, might we not use this to dispel the reasoning for having an unofficial or non-registry registry?

I am amazed by this story.

Yet another example of why to NEVER volunteer ANYTHING to the police that is not required by law. Even if the cops believe they have probable cause, verbally state over and over that you are not giving them permission to search your car as they do so.

There is no reason to volunteer that you are carrying and PA has no law requiring you to notify LE you are carrying. The only time I would volunteer this info is if the cop asked you to step out of your car during a traffic stop, which rarely happens if they don't suspect you of a DUI or unless you have an outstanding warrant.

In that case, tell them you are carrying becasue if they ask you to step out of the car you may be frisked, and if not and if they see printing it could get ugly.

NEVER volunteer ANYTHING no matter how innocent you are. Bad cops will screw you and even good cops make mistakes. Don't given them the opportunity.
