Default OC experience & a LEO encounter

First, the obligatory OC report:
OC'd to Elmwood Park Zoo, a few looks, no comments
OC'd to Taco Bell, no looks, no comments
OC'd to Mommy & Me (for Little mans summer clothes), no looks, no comments.

Had a car accident.
Other driver noticed, didn't seem to care.
The police officer that took the report on the other hand.....

He is in his vehicle, writing the reports.
LEO: "Mr. Price, I assume you have a carry permit?"
Me: Yes sir, I have a License to Carry. (I was driving, so I didn't find the question unreasonable)
LEO: May I see it?
Me: Sure. (I present it)
LEO: You know this is a Concealed carry permit. That means to are required to conceal.
Me: I beg to differ, sir. The LtCF allows concealed carry, but does not require it. I am required to have my LtCF when I open carry while driving, so I make sure it's in my pocket.
LEO: I have had permits revoked for that. Usually they are the drunks swaggering around, so I'm not going to call the Sheriff this time, but you need to watch yourself.
Me: Well, thank you that. Here, (I hand him a flier) there's some good information with the relevant statutes cited. I'm pretty confident open carry is lawful, but I'll go back and look. (My wife waves at me) Mind if I head over?
LEO: Sure.

Anyway. He was a nice guy, and we chatted a bit more after that and he was reading the flier when I went back to his car. I'd call it a positive, only because I got the chance to educate instead of confront.

Great job! For tonight's homework, memorize the following:

"I am absolutely certain that open carry of a firearm on foot is legal, as the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has recognized this fact in both Commonwealth v. Ortiz and Commonwealth v. Hawkins."

Indeed, nicely done.

My guess is he is fully aware of the legality of OC and that it is not a revocable offense. Else he would have cited you.

Good Job! Way to go!

I should really print out and copy a few of those fliers myself.

Since there are some LEOs out there who are sure they're positive of the fact that you HAVE to carry concealed.....I'd just love to see the looks on their faces once "Joe Citizen" has out-smarted and out-educated them!

Nice to see the LEO didn't get all "huffy and puffy" about it.

Mangled the passenger side of my car, no injury to wife or son. The hell of it is, I *just* paid off the silly thing. Now I have to spend money on the deducible and wait for the Ins. co. to cover the rest.

I had 10 printed up at Office Max. It cost just under a buck apiece. I thought it would be cheaper but a least I have a few to keep in the car.

Good to hear everyones OK and the officer was reading the flyer.

I got 101 printed up at Staples for about 20¢ each, including folding. At least, I think that was the price. It was pretty close.

Mr. Ugly, sorry to hear of your accident. We were in a very small one in FL last week, when a lady backed into my truck. I am waiting for the insurance company to resolve the issue as I type. Good luck with your own.

First, glad everyone is OK. Second, good report.
Third, there is no way I would have been able to not laugh at him when he told me he usually has permits revoked, but he'd let me go. Especially after telling me all about my CCP. I'm not sure what it would have led to, but there is no way I could have sat there and listened to his self important spiel about how magnanimous he was being to me. I am truly glad it wasn't me.
