Agreed, although I prefer to use "could" as it implies possibility whereas "would" assumes a level of certainty about the potential difficulty.

I think we can all agree that most of the information is already "out there" in some form. I'm assuming that the intent of organizing ranges by county is to make things easier to find even though people could eventually find the information anyway (if they don't give up first).

I think it's an excellent idea. I had been thinking about something like this for some time, but didn't feel comfortable suggesting it. However, now that the ice is broken . . . .

Well, I will see your wager and raise you a
relatively complete list of 252 PA shooting ranges, grouped by county (please see attachment).

The attached file should help. It is a very "plain jane" HTML file that can be opened in any browser. I used IE 7, but it looks fine in Mozilla FireFox 2.0 as well. If you're concerned that there may be something hinky with the file, have Dan or Doug or someone technical give it a clean bill of health.
It's attached in Zip format, because vBulletin limits the type of files that are permitted as attachments. I can open the Zip file with Windows Explorer (basically as a file manager) under XP, so it should be pretty straight forward. My apologies if this is belaboring the obvious or you already have "power user" tendencies.

Before we go down this path, I would like to get Dan's blessing that this approach (cross-referencing individual ranges in a "sticky" to specific threads in the "range forum") is consistent with his long term vision of the PAFOA web site design. In the past he has commented about various design preferences, but I don't remember anything on this particular subject.
Assuming that Dan agrees, then I would like to get an assessment from the Mods as to how practical they think this might be in everyday life. It would be pointless to just start adding the cross-reference links to the "range sticky" if everybody winds up ignoring them.
Also, if you want to modify the HTML file I can explain how it was constructed. As you might imagine, some aspects of the file are much easier to change than others. In order to turn it around in 24 hours, I decided not to write any code. However, if you come up with an interesting enough change, I might just be tempted.
