Default Guns don't kill people, people do

A psycho is a psycho is a psycho. The weapon is irrelevant. [Edit to say that I still haven't seen this on CNN or other major networks. A quadruple homicide with a firearm would be all over the place, as has been unfortunately demonstrated several times in the past couple months.]

4 Fatally Stabbed in Alaska Fishing Town
By JEANNETTE J. LEE – 18 hours ago

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — A young man wielding a 5-inch knife stabbed four people to death in a small Alaska fishing and tourist town on Tuesday before officers subdued him with a stun gun, police said.

Jason Abbott, 18, was taken to the jail in Sitka and is awaiting charges, Police Chief Sheldon Schmitt said.

Officers found the bodies of three people just before noon at a two-story home just two blocks from the police station, police said. A fourth person found in the house later died at a hospital.

Abbott's relatives owned the home, police said, though they did not release their identities.

Police received a call from a man outside the house who told the dispatcher that there was a "guy outside stabbing people," Scmitt said. The dispatcher said she could hear people screaming in the background.

Investigators with the state crime lab in Anchorage have flown to the city of 9,000 people to help Sitka police, Schmitt said.

Abbott had been arrested Sunday on a domestic violence charge, police said. They had no other details of his criminal history and could not say whether he was still in school.

The public defender's office said they had not yet been assigned the case.

The town has not seen a murder for at least a decade.

"It's a tragedy for the community," Schmitt said. "It's a small town. Everybody knows everybody."

Sitka is on an island 600 miles southeast of Anchorage. The town, which cannot be reached by road, is a popular stop for cruise ships, receiving about 200,000 visitors each summer.

Dammit, here comes the knife ban. Now I'll have to wish all my food to be in smaller pieces.

When they butcher the 2A then only butcher's will have knives.

It's a good thing that citizen did the right thing and called 911 and did not go and get their weapon to stop the bg. I wonder if they waited for paramedics, too or if they pitched in to help the victims with first aid?

(sarcasm BTW)

Isn't it ironic that this KNIFE SLAYING happened in a place with some of the most lax gun control and carry laws in the US?

I thought that same thing. I had a friend move to Alaska and before the move he was talking about the advice he was getting, and one of the things he was told was to carry a sidearm at all times. "Why, is it really like the Wild West up there?"

No, dude...BEARS!!! MOOSE!!

We also have friends in Alaska, (Eagle River). And they tell us the moose up there are a real bitch. Actually had to send the kids in to school 1 hr. late one day because there were moose on their front lawn, and they had to wait until they left. They tell us there's nothing meaner than a moose.
