In Mexico, guns are difficult to purchase legally. So, officials say, weapons easily purchased in the United States are turning up there.

"The same routes that are being used to traffic drugs north -- and the same organizations that have control over those routes -- are the same organizations that bring the money and the cash proceeds south as well as the guns and the ammunition," says Bill Newell, a special agent with the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Maybe we should offer our help to the Mexican government. We might be able to help them tighten security along the border.

OK guys, but you missed the reason behind this article. This is one of CNN's attempts to get certain firearms banned for civilian use. Did you pick up on the "palm sized rounds" used in the Barrett? Did you read the Batman saying that "nothing is going to stop these?" This is an attack on civilian ownership of .50s, you can bet that more will be coming with Ted Turner's attitude.

I have a perfect solution: the U.S. can work with Mexico to build a really good border security plan. The Mexican government can work to keep it's citizens on it's soil, and the U.S. can work to keep the guns on ours.

This isn't a "gun problem", this is an enforcement problem. Let our Border Patrol do their jobs and this problem will be stemmed.
