I was looking at glock at the gun store in town until I seen the XD45 with a secondary safety which is located on the back of the handle. Which means I must grip the gun, and also pull the trigger. The trigger also has a safety like the glocks with a trigger safety.
I should duley note the 2008 versions of XDs have a manual thumb safety. |

I am not familiar with Glock mechanics...
Did it require double action trigger force to fire it? Was it precocked or firing pin stuck back and a jarring of the weapon or trigger caused it to fire? I held off when I first saw the post to see what would transpire in the way of more information. For home defense, I would want maybe one wall to be pierced maximum. Unless I live in the country (I do now) and live alone (hit the deck kids!). Thanks for any clarification. |

I'm the safest guy with a firearm you're ever going to meet. If you feel holier than thou then you better check your attitude before it happens to you. This was a logistical failure - I knew I was doing something unsafe and did it anyway as an interim measure. It had nothing to do with handling firearms, I was asleep. Normalization of deviance failure. How the hell does a safety course or carrying have anything to do with this? Last edited by ungawa; March 21st, 2008 at 04:22 PM. |

Happily you were able to start this thread. We all know it could have been much, much worse. Way to man up and admit you screwed up! Most of us would have never admitted to something like this. Sorry you had to, but glad you shared. Hopefully, you've opened some eyes. Another hard earned lesson for all gun owners. You're okay, and thats whats important. Be well.
