You have always heard of people sleeping with a gun under the pillow. can you imagine that wake up call?

As stated, I am fully aware of the data. I know it is real. But when you see something with your eyes, it can change your attitude a bit even in the face of facts. I can assure you I would have been more "impressed" by a .45, having shot just about everything with it, and my house is thankful that I was less than impressed.

Didn't catch that part. Regardless, it sounds like your instincts were right!

I'm not sure if he changed his mind yet... but i'm quite sure the 9x19 and 5.56 are just fine for combat and defensive purposes. I'm just happy you are fine. By hearing you describe the 9mm round and the Glock in general...it sounds like you bought the wrong gun from the beginning.

I'll tell you my experience, and I don't have as good an excuse as you because I was wide awake.
I had gotten my first semi-auto, some piece of crap 32 ACP. This was a lot of years ago, sometime between 1976 and 1979. I was shooting at the range and went home. I pulled the 32 from my bag and went to put it in the nightstand. I KNEW I had fired it empty because I had shot 6 rounds ( all I had ever shot was revolvers). Moving the pistol from range bag to nightstand, booger picker on the trigger, round number 7 (in the chamber) goes off and shows me just what a 32 ACP is capable of. It enters one side of a solid cherry dresser, comes out the other side and lodges somewhere in the wall. I can't even begin to tell you how much trouble I was in, and I deserved every bit of it. First off, every gun is loaded. Screwed that up. Second, finger off the trigger unless you're ready to shoot. Screwed that up. Third, don't point the gun at something you're not willing to destroy. I guess I could argue it was just a dresser but I'd be grasping at straws, so... screwed that up. I still have that dresser and never fixed the bullet hole. It serves as a constant reminder of what was and what could have been. My wife was in the house at the time. |
