It is stock. Was I in disbelief? Yes. Is it possible there is something wrong with the firearm? Yes. But the most likely explanation seems to be that I did something wrong. Incidentally, I once had a discharge from a firearm without touching the trigger - that weapon WAS defective, the failure was repeatable. |

If you'd feel better about having a manual safety after a close call like this, I wouldn't second-guess you.
Keeping the gun in its holster AT ALL TIMES when it's not being used sounds like it might have been one way to avoid it, though. Or, perhaps, keeping it in the night stand drawer instead of on the surface next to the alarm clock. Otherwise, when you reflect on this later, consider that you've been given a second chance. Use it wisely. |

Also, I almost didn't post because I knew there would be all kinds of criticism. So be it, I deserve my lumps. I feel maybe I've done some good by posting. Next somebody will be saying it didn't happen. Waiting... |

I knew this was not the firearm for me shortly after I bought it. |

The hole is in the base of my nightable lamp. Went in one side and knocked a piece out the other side. Sent a few pieces of frag around but the largest piece of the projectile just landed on the floor.

At least your ok and you do have something to trade in for something more suited to your needs.

When I had my own place I had an old holster secured to the nightstand next to the bed. It was out of the way, but I could draw from it without hesitation. Maybe this will work for you?

First off...glad nobody got hurt.
Second.. I dont like the idea of using ANY brand of handgun on the nightstand without some type of holster that protects the trigger. Now you know exactly what you need to do. Some folks do crazy stuff while they are asleep, and should think about these things when they are buying a home defense gun and holster. Some folks sleep walk and could do God knows what kind of damage with a loaded gun...those people need to think long and hard before buying. A good retention holster for $50 would have saved you a lot of problems. Lastly - dont use this shooting as proof of what the 9mm round will do on people. Bullets perform different when hitting soft tissue and liquids. I doubt you would have been any more impressed with a .45 acp. I know the .223 from a AR15 will not exit the rear of a new color TV when shot from 15'. I cant tell the story because I promised to save a friend from the pain and agony. lol.
