Larrymeyer, I'm not trying to pick a fight, but this strikes a nerve. After 22 years in law enforcement, I have never seen another officer calmly finish his coffee and donuts before responding to a call where someone might be in danger. On the contrary, we'll leave another incident that we're already on or leave that $10 meal sit on the table to try and get there NOW.

I'm not going to argue and say that it can't or doesn't happen. Given the number of police in this country I expect there may be some who really don't give a damn when they get there. Your statement though seems like a slam on cops in general.

Having said all that, it's an unfortunate fact that the police in many instances can't get there in time. I live and work in a town where response time is pretty quick, but it can still take several minutes. Those minutes are too long for us as well.

And in that case, it was the dispatcher who caused the delayed response, not the police.

Pardon me, I'm just suspicious by nature.
Actually, that was my first thought, too until I thought about it a moment and came up with something that seemed more reasonable/likely!

I guess too much CSI, eh? ;-)
