Pistol and long gun checks the same?
I bought a rifle a month ago and went through the pics just fine. My only concern was a disorderly conduct from years ago would have held it up but it didn't. (Not an m1 or m2 disorderly). Now I am considering a handgun. Is the background and approval checks the same or is there more restrictions for a handgun that I would need to doublecheck my status?

If you went through the PICs ok you should be ok the second time. The deciding factor IIRC is if you could have been given jail time of (I think) 2 years or more, not what you actually got.
