Yes, the bullet will travel that far, but how accurate will it be and how much energy will be retained at that distance is asking a heck of a lot of any average shooter or 7mm rem. mag.

You might want to jump up to a 7mm STW

I will be faithful to the 7rem mag !! Besides its not going to be a regular shot just a one time deal. The farthest shot Ive made with the rifle was 563yards(same load) when it had a 4-12 on it now it has a 8-32x and a bi-pod (the 563 was prone rested on a old shirt) So whats another 793yards?!?!?!?!?

First off I want to say I have never attempted to shoot that distance (1356) with any rifle, but I have shot 1K. I will also say that much of the data I will provide is about the 7mm WSM, but the 7mm Mag is near identical so they should be comparable. Everything that I have seen suggests that the 7mm mag, AND the 7mm WSM will go out to 1356. Some of the fellows on Snipers hide shoot the 7 WSM out to a MILE!!! I will say this is NOT accomplished by the average shooter, or the average reloader, but it is possible. If shooters can make a .308 go 1K or slightly over, you should be able to push a significantly faster bullet (same weight) a little beyond that. Most of the guys are shooting 26-28" barrels with high twist rates like 1 in 9 or 1 in 9.25. Depending on the load, some guys are saying it'll go trans sonic at 1300 and some say their load will stay super sonic longer than that. Realize that after a bullet goes trans sonic, consistant accuracy will deteriorate. It sounds like most of the guys are shooting 180 grain Bergers, some shooting some 168 SMK's. Just realize that when you start using heavy long bullets, you have to have the right barrel twist to stabilize the bullets. This kind of limits the lower end bullets because you will over stabilize them. This means that with lighter bullets like the 140 grainers or so, the bullet will not nose over properly, and you'll start seeing keyholes on target if you shoot over 600 yards with the lighter bullet. Yes it is possible to shoot those distances, but like I said, the shooters and reloaders able to do this aren't the normal run of the mill. Here's some link to snipers hide on some of them discussing their load, equipment, etc. As with ANY load info, make sure you drop the load down and work up to it, because different elevation, barometric pressure, temperatures, etc will affect the pressures.

A guy just forwarded me a clip showing a shot made on a buck at 950 yds with a 338.

Doesn't look that far till they zoom back out.

I don't know how to link this video.

7mm mag is technically capable of it; not the ideal choice of caliber (you'd probably want .338 Lapua Magnum for that kind of range), but it should be possible with a truly experienced extreme long range marksman, who has sufficient practice with the specific rifle and specific load to be used.

edit; I'd probably use a somewhat heavier bullet; the 140gr may suffer extra windage variation at extreme long range.

Also depends on what kind of accuracy you expect....I can probably hit a barn at that distance with my .300 win mag, but not a bottle cap....
