Welcome to the PAFOA! There are tons of AR threads here...too many for me to list, but do a search for AR15 and you should find lots of valuable info!

What RocketFoot said.

I've become a big fan of Rock River Arms lately. Bushmaster is my second choice.

Price range and intended usage will mean a lot.

I HAVE OWNED A BUSHMASTER MODEL XM15-E2S FOR ABOUT 12 YEARS AND HAVE PUT APPROX. 9200 ROUNDS DOWN RANGE WITH IT. UTILIZING NORMAL CLEANING PROCEDURES, I HAVE NOT HAD ANY MECHANICAL FAILURES WITH THE RIFLE ITSELF. SOMETIMES BAD OR WEAK MAGAZINE SPRINGS WILL CAUSE MINOR STOPPAGES, BUT OVERALL I HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY HAPPY AND WOULD HIGH RECOMMEND IT.

It's mostly a matter of personal preference, IMO. Most of the factory AR's today, all utilize basic/internal parts from the same manufacturer, with the exception of Colt's and some very expensive custom's. If you are a lefty shooter, look at Stag Arm's. They make the only factory LH'ed AR. Other wise, I'd look to Rock River Arms or Bushmaster. I currently own a Bushmaster XM, and I am quite happy with it.

yeah 10-4. I had the same thought. I wanted one for plinking and stuff so I went with double star, and a standard A2 upper, solid styock. Nothing fancy, just bare bones. Check out the guns shows as well. They usually have loads of models in every imagineable(sp) configuration.
