Default Request for Aubie

Aubie, since you seem to be knowledgeable on all things run related, what sites should I buy and install on my little old highly reliable Taurus. I am wanting some decent nite sites (without breaking the bank), or even a conversion for optic (holograph/red dot) sites. Are optics even possible to do on a fine made in Brazil specimen, such as the Taurus 24/7 Pro in .40 S&W?

Sorry for not replying sooner. I didn't even see this post til I was searching old posts.

I must admit that I am not a huge Taurus fan....at least their semi's...we used to sell a bunch of Taurus pistols and many had to be sent back to the factory. I know that Taurus has a good warranty, but a NIB weapon shouldn't need servicing. The worst part was that the gun shop that I worked at wouldn't buy back Taurus pistols..even if we sold the customer the pistol.

The Taurus pistols are Beretta clones, so the NS should be interchangable. PT sights have a 15 year half life and a lifetime warranty on them. I recently sent PT my Steyr to have their night sites installed...the company never replied to my emails...I had to call a few times and to speak to a manager. After a month later..I received my Steyr slide back. I like PT because the company offers a variety of night sight options.

I like Mepros and Trijicon night sights...although they don't offer a 15 year half life...they offer 12 years which is plenty. Many night sight companies use vials from Trijicon. Mepros are owned by Kimber. Call Mepro and Trijicon and verify that any Beretta night sights can fit...if you need me to order them for you...I get discounts for various parts.

Hey Aubie, I thank you for your opinion. I will talk to Trijicon and Mepro and make sure. Granted it is a dovetail base, just want to make sure no funny sizes.

In Taurus's defense...their QC is improving....the PT1911 looks to be very promising...lots of custom features for under $500 for the blued model and under $600 for the SS.

BTW what is your MOS? I was a 31 Lima stationed at Ft. Stewart, GA. Have you heard of EPLRS? My unit was the first unit to have it in the mid 90's...it's a GPS system.

I like my 24/7. I like the warranty, and only had 3 misfires. All three were operator head space.

I know a lot of people have had issues.

I have never heard of EPLRS.

You were a cable dog? I am so sorry. And to think I was starting to like you. I am a 25P, came in as a 31P.
