Default .45 ACP headstamp data and question...

Ever curious about what people shoot? I just sorted a large box of once-fired range brass.. (yeah a cold boring winter night)...and here is the breakdown. Now that I've got these lots, does anybody have any definitive test info on whether a GI clone .45 ACP could do better with any particular brand of brass...say with handloads off bags at 50 yards?

FEDERAL............25%
W-W & WINCHEST...22%
PMC.....................13%
R-P...................12%
WCCxx..............7 1/2%
SPEER...........4 1/2%
Mil & LC...........3+ %
WCC Match........3%
All Others........<10%

Yeah if you want I will trade lots for stuff I need.

When I shoot groups I always use Winchester, but bullets and a good powder charge are likely more important in .45 in terms of getting good accuracy.

I don't think there are any definitive tests of which you speak. Different guns shoot different ammo with different results. Basically if you are not going to reload then you would want to have lots (20 to 25 rounds minimum per lot) of each brand (and each bullet weight) to see which shoots the best out of your particular gun. Find the best and stick with that. If you reload then you do the same thing, you load up a bunch of different loads (same bullet, different powder weights, different powder types, etc) and see what shoots best. With the reloads, the brass manufacturer will not make as big a difference, the bullet, powder and primer have the most effect.
