Lightbulb Storage in silicone sock?

I have run into an issue with lack of room in my safe, and I will need to be laying some handguns down on thier sides, I have been told to NEVER leave guns in a gun rug (zippered case) And was informed that the silicone socks will do well for me, Is this a wise choice? I have a couple of racks, But I also have a couple of 8" barreled revolvers that wont fit without hitting rear of safe, And I dont have room for another safe except for in the basement, and I dont want them there,,,,
So to sum it up, Any ideas for storage for handguns that you have to lay down????
Any imput is appreciated!

AS long as your putting the gun in a rug and they are both dry and you don't zip it completely zipped. you should be OK the idea is to let it get some air circulation. socks are ok too

I could probably fit another gun or two in my safe. I'd be happy to help you out.

I would not store guns in ANYTHING other than a properly dehumidified safe or if no safe, an open air environment such as a closet.

I have seen many damaged firearms where the damage was from storage in cases/rugs/socks/etc etc

That kinda like a condom? Because it seems kinda tough to fit the new AR in one with the pistol grip and all......
