Default Transfer of Handgun- PA Resident to PA Resident

Hi, All. I'm currently selling a pistol and I need to know the process for transferring a pistol from one PA resident to another. So here goes:

1) Does the transfer have to be face to face?

2) Can I ship it to an FFL and have the person pick it up there?

3) If it's shipped to an FFL, what paperwork do they need from me to complete the transfer? Do they need a copy of my proof of ownership?

4) Anything I'm missing?

Any help you can give me is much appreciated.

Thanks,

Slim

Default Re: Transfer of Handgun- PA Resident to PA Resident

Must be shipped to FFL if you aren't meeting that person at a FFL or sheriff..

There is no true FTF transfers of handguns in PA(except the family thing) because there is a FFL or Sheriff between the faces.

You should confirm that the person that you are shipping the handgun to is a dealer. Other than that, the only paperwork necessary is the shipping forms for whatever common carrier you chose and maybe a letter/receipt in the box explaining to the receiving dealer to whom the firearm is to be transfered to.

No.

Yes.

They need your name and address for logging in the gun.

4) Anything I'm missing?
Follow Knights advice (above post) on shipping.
You will have to ship common carrier (no USPS) and UPS and FedEx both have internal policies that restrict handgun shipments to express (no ground). If using UPS you will probably have to ship from a hub as the "UPS stores", etc, will probably not accept the shipment.
