As I've mentioned in other threads, if a place thinks it needs to frisk customers, I take it as a sign that it's not the sort of place I want to be spending time, especially unarmed. But, years ago I went into a few places that purported to frisk. Nobody ever noticed that I was carrying. The only exception to my rule of avoidance is the various stadia in Philadelphia -- but they're incompetent, so I carry and don't worry about it. If someone spots it and has a problem, they can refund my money and I'll leave. I'm not leaving a weapon in a car.

Heinz Field
and Mellon arena both do. The guys at heinz feild are kind of dicks, but I got patted down going into the arena and had an idea the guy was just going through the motions, he didn't want to find anything. I don't like it, but they usually just check waistband or pockets, go when it's crowded and carry ankle and you should be fine. Also post gazette pavilion makes you lift up your shirt and spin. Also go when crowded and carry ankle and you will have no problems. none of those places have time to do a good job searching.

Went to see Ace Frehley play there on New Year's Eve. No wand, no pat-down. I was carrying. No problems.
As an aside, it was a great show but a lousy venue. Too many a-holes and incompetent security. A fight broke out on the floor and went on for ten minutes before any of the bouncers responded. The place is usually packed for "name" acts and there is no seating. Find a spot to stand near the bar and you should be cool. |

Rule has it right, if the place needs to frisk then it's not a place to be. I will not submit to a search buy a non LEO, period.

Not saying there rules changed, but I have never been frisked when going there.

Was there last night. I carried. I was not checked with a wand or a pat down. The place was packed. There was no trouble. Only problem was being 5 ft 6 in a 6 ft 5 crowd.

My friends band played there a few months ago ... they are pretty well known and security was probably beefed up a little more than on a no-name night. I asked ahead of time and Croc's official response was "we prefer that you don't carry here, we have off duty police as security".
I obliged. No problem. There was no wand or pat down (as stated earlier) and I could easily have carried without raising any eyebrows. hth |

I've found that the men doing the frisking don't take quite as much time to frisk you when you make mildly homo-erotic comments beforehand. Although I wasn't carrying at the time, I managed to get through security at the Linc with a very light pat-down and no check of my large camera bag.
I do recall though, that when I went to the Ted Nugent concert at Penn's Peak, the security consisted of making sure that only people over 21 got the special wristbands. I wondered if that was their regular policy, or if they made special accomodations for Nugent and his fans...
