Default WHICH 22 SEMI-AUTO PISTOL FOR KID ???'s

I have a Ruger 22 single model six 22/22 magnum which is a great pistol, but to heavy for my kids.

I am looking for something light and fits their hands so they will enjoy shooting.

Today I was in Dunkelbergers and looked at a Walther P22 with a 5" barrel. I was very impressed by how light it was and has the interchangable back straps to fit different hands.

I am open to any suggestions.

Regards,

Siggy

Ruger 22/45.

The last thing you need with kids is clearing a malf every third round.

Lycanthrope, I have Ruger Bull Barrel since I was a kid, that is in my fathers name, great pistol!

I am trying to find a pistol that is light and easy to handle fo r my 7 and 10 year old.

I thought the Walther P22 5" was the ticket.

You say that it malfuctions a lot. Do you have experiance with it? Do you own one? Are you a gun smith that knows of problems with it?

ssom003, have you had a malfuctions with it? Any problems at all? What ammo do you use?

I appreciate both of your time and help.

Siggy

Whhoaaa hoss....I didn't say they were bad.

It's not that they are bad guns. Not at all. They do have mixed reports, but that means very little if you have a good one.

I was simply saying that in terms of kids, having a gun that is reliable and fun is paramount. And..the guns I mentioned have good triggers.

Kids love red dots too.

Another choice would be a S&W 22a. Nice plinker, priced right, easy field strip to clean.

Lycanthrope, I understand what you are saying! Your reply said that they malfuction, that is the reason for all of the questions!

I do appreciate the help!

Lastmanout, which S&W 22 do you reccomend?

I'm using the Federal value pack that Wal-Mart has...
.22 Long Rifle High Velocity 36 Grain Copper-Plated Hollow point...
Never had a problem with it yet...

Sig. Mosquito are good gun also and it has the feel of a full size Sig.
Works well with the Federal ammo I'm using, but the mag will cost around $30 or so...

It has a short barrel, but my daughter, tiny for her age, started shooting a Beretta 21A when she was nine. It fits her hand perfectly. She does pretty well with it at 7-10 yds, not as good at 15yds, but still finds satisfaction.
