How much ammo do you carry?

I'm interested to know how much ammo people carry when they have their pistol on them. Please also state why you carry the amount that you do.

Personally I carry a G26 with 10 rds in it and that is it. I figure that I'm not walking into a battlefield and 10 rds should be more than enough to protect myself from the average BG or pair of BG. If I can't get it done with 10 shots I can't get it done with any amount.

Currently carrying one extra reload for my revolver. I haven't found a speed loader that fits it though so while I have 6 extra rounds they don't provide alot of piece of mind.

When I've carried my compact .40 I carry 1 extra magazine for a total of 29 rounds.

I'm hoping to graduate my Taurus 1911 to fulltime carry status and will carry two extra magazines for it for a total of 25 rounds.

My view is you never know why you may need a firearm. 20+ rounds may be more than is needed for a BG or two, but I'd always rather have a few extra rounds than not enough. I don't really notice the extra weight between one or two extra magazines any more than the extra weight of a full sized 1911 vs my Rossi .357 or even the Taurus PT-140.

12+1, and a back up of 12. Like mentioned before: If I every feel like I'm going to need all 25, I probably should be more focussed on running than shooting.

It depends on if it's a tinfoil hat day or not..

If not(99.99999999% of the time): just whatever is in the gun(6, 8+1, or 15+1) and/or on my cartridge belt depending on which gun I happened to be carrying that day.

If its a tinfoil hat day: whats in the gun, plus multiple spare mags and New York reloads on my person, plus a jacket pocket full of loose cartridges, plus an oversized handcannon loaded and sitting back in my vehicle for me to retreat to.

In cooler weather I carry a Browning P-35, 14 rds total in warm weather I carry my chiefs's special,5 in the gun and 5 in my pocket.

Right now, it's just the 15 that are in the gun, when I had my old holster it had a spot for an extra mag right on it, so I had an extra one. I'll probably get a mag carrier someday, for beside my cell phone

15+1 in the gun and two 15 rd mags.

Total of 46 rounds of ammo. But I carry the extra mags in case of a malfunction, more so then becasue I'm afraid of needing to spray and pray - as was put forth in another message! (And yes, that IS a joke!)
