All I usually carry is what's in my PT1911(8rds, JHP). I've got a single stack Galco mag holder, but usually don't bring it with me. Most times it's because I shot most of my ammo at the range, and haven't had time to head back to Walmart to pick up more.
If I'm going into a higher-risk area ( parts of south Arlington/Alexandria VA) then I'll take an extra mag.

On the average I carry 46 rounds. That may seem like "too much" for most confrontations, but I like to be reasonably prepared to handle even the "worst case" situations. What I mean by that is, that I have to retreat to cover and return fire. If I only have one or two magazines, then I MAY run out before the threat(s) are neutralized. I'd rather carry around an extra mag and not need it, than to need it and not have it. There is a saying that I try to live by and that is, "It is better to be prepared and not need, than to need and not be prepared."

I carry a spare magazine not because I believe that I'll be engaged in a protracted firefight, but because magazines are notoriously fragile and I want a spare in case one breaks.

I carry 1 mag in firearm, 3 spares, all 13 rds. And usually an extra 100 rnds in a laptop bag, just in case, its not a tinfoil hat day, and it gets really real! Call me paranoid but I'm a prepared paranoid!
gtg, the voices are telling me to clean the firearms/ lol

Two speedloaders have been the standard so far. By the grace of God, 18 well-placed rounds in .44 magnum should be enough to get the job done.
Once I can carry on a regular basis (less than 8 months now! woo!), I'll probably carry a New York reload as well. We'll see.

With the Kimber it's 7 +1 and an extra mag.
With the P3AT its 6 +1 and an extra mag. I usually don't carry the .380 as a BUG. It's my primary carry when I'm in shorts or have to attend a business function because it'll easily fit in my suit coat inside-breast pocket and is totally undetectable.

In addition, I either carry a S&W five-shot .357Mag, with one reload; or a single-stack, commander-sized Sig 1911 with 8+1, plus a reload. Thus, on any given day I carry anywhere from 24 to 31 rounds. Stay well. ---elston

Every time I think I'm being paranoid. I think about W.V. Tech. Then the Mall in Utah. Then Columbine. Then..... You get the idea. Is it being paranoid or just prepared. Guess that depends on who you talk to. Your mother would tell you you were paranoid. The lady at the church in Utah, would tell you it isn't enough, you need to carry more.
