the only reason any kids are ever traumatized by this kind of thing is because their parents (or teachers or someone on TV, etc.) tell them they are supposed to be traumatized by it.

Hey, my dad had me gutting fish as soon as he thought I could be trusted not to slice myself with the knife. (The operative rule was "You catch it, you clean it". Although he didn't take me hunting with him (hunting season was always during the school year in California), I'd seen plenty of his "take"...quail, pheasants, deer, etc. and watched him dress it, too. No trauma for me and my sisters, either.

If you notice in the article, there is no mention of the kids.

If the parent's don't make a big deal out of it, or if they told them "This is where meat comes from" blah blah blah to that extent, then children will find it informative and a normal part of life. As for 'a pool of blood' I know that's probably exaggerated. Watch there be only 2-3 drops. LOL |
