95TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY
State of Illinois 2007 and 2008 HB4259 Introduced , by Rep. William Davis www.ilga.gov/legislation/95/HB/09500HB4259.htm New Act Creates the Ammunition Accountability Act. Provides that all firearm ammunition manufactured or sold in the State of Illinois on or after January 1, 2010 shall be coded by the manufacturer. Provides that effective January 1, 2011, all firearm ammunition used within the State of Illinois shall be coded by the manufacturer. Provides that on or after January 1, 2011, a person in possession of non-coded ammunition that was manufactured prior to January 1, 2010, may transfer the same only to an heir, to an individual residing in another state maintaining the ammunition in another state, or to a federally licensed firearms dealer. Provides that the Department of State Police shall be responsible for establishing and maintaining an Ammunition Coding System Database (ACSD) containing specified information. Establishes penalties and exemptions. |

Hey guys its happening here in PA as well - gun control is one the move
I have a memo from state Rep John Meyers dated Jan 8, 2008 looking for co sponsor of similar information - plus keeping a data base of all ammo (plus components sold in PA. Oh I have no doubt it can happen here. Over the past couple years I have been becoming increasingly concerned that certain types of ammo will be effectively banned either through an outright ban or making it too expensive to purchase/manufacture.
