Default Sniper Course of Fire near Shamokin, PA

Hey guys. Thought I would let you all know of a fairly new course of fire near my home. Its shot at the Keystone Fish and Game. They developed a "sniper course" and I have been shooting it for the the last few months. One of the other forum members, deth502 has also shot. In fact, he shot really really well on Sunday and scored a perfect round. Alas, I missed a perfect score by one shot.

Posted below are the rules I scanned... hope you can see them.
Feel free to ask questions! The more, the merrier. Registration starts at 8:30 am, shooting starts as soon as they have a first group ready. Cost is 6 dollars per run through. Its a good time, lots of good guys to talk to and shoot with.

Total of 11 targets (although they are adding more). You get two shots maximum at each target. There are several different classes of competition - military or sporter, open sight or optic, caliber (I think its .276 and up, and then smaller calibers)... total of 8 classes. For example, the .223 sporter scope guys do not compete against military open sight, big bore and so on. You compete against persons shooting your class, caliber and sights.

Cmon down!!!! They serve lunch, and B.S. in the club between rounds!!! Lots of nice guns to look at and lots of nice people to talk to, if you dont mind a little bit of ball busting. But, all in good fun. For the young and old. Few months ago saw a young man in his early teens shooting an M1 carbine. Some guys bring their scoped sniper rilfes that cost $4600. Me? I shoot a 60 year old M1 garand and keep up with the best of em. Some days I shoot my AR. Whatever makes you happy! (with the exception of the 50 cal.... sorry soberbyker!)

Competition is the 4th Sunday of every month. Distances involved are anywhere from 30 yards, out to about 220 yards. (my best guess.)
You do not need to be a member to shoot.

Very fun, informal, good times.

fun indeed!!

very informal.

i didnt know about the "unloaded between stations" thing. every time i went through there was someone who kept loaded, so i figured it was fine to do so.

the last 2 times i unloaded, it was mentioned those times that the course was slippery due to the weather, so i figured it was just due to the circumstances.

didnt do quite as well the 2nd time through last sunday, was on my way to a 2nd "perfect round" untill i actually hit one on 6 i think it came to a .2something.

the mini will definatley have to be sighted in before it comes out again!!

thinking of doing a "russian day" with the 91/30 and the ak next time!

hope to see some more people there!!!!

What are the distances involved? Not a lot of details on the papers you posted.

the last station has 2 fairly open shots at man sized silloutte targets at 200 yds.

the rest are in traditional pa woods type settings. ranging from about 35-40 yd out to about 100 yd

I'm very intersted in shooting at the next event...could you please give me some more info?
Do you need to be a member of the club to shoot the event?
Next date/time
do you guys do any stalkes??
Known or unknown range shooting??
i dont think you need to be a member, but im not positive.

every 4th sunday, so the next would be feb 24. signup starts at 8:30 am and shooting starts around 9:00.

no stalking, more of a "dm" course than sniper really. just some guys walking through the woods to the different stations and shooting plates. one of the reasons it enjoyable to me is because its so unformal. get to bs and joke around some as your walking through. course requires you to walk, imo, somewhere around 350 yds in total. (uphill both ways !!)

the ranges are not marked, as i stated before, the last 2 are about 200 yd fairly open, and the rest are typical pa woods stuff ranging from 40-100 yd.

open site classes shoot at plates about 10" round, scoped rifles plates are about 3" round.

i heard talk of expanding it to put in a short pistol event at the end of the course, but i guess thats all just in the planning stages yet.
