I wonder how much it weighs... It looks heavy, and bulky.

4.76 kg less magazine

http://world.guns.ru/shotgun/sh29-e.htm

It's mainly plastic.

I don't understand why he is showing this gun. It's been around since the 70's and never took off. Not sure why it would now.

I mean WTF would a drum magazine pouch look like for that gun!?!?!?! The magazine only holds 8 rounds if you don't use a drum, so then it's basically the capacity of any other shotgun. So?

Here's 12 shots in 1.73 seconds thru a Beretta semi auto. It's a lot less cumbersome, and a hell of a lot more maneuvrable than that abortion. Plus, it can be reloaded before you start collecting Social Security. Full auto shotguns are nothing new. They had prototypes in the second World War. None made it into production. Perhaps today they might with all of the "Rambo Mentality" we now have going. Bill T.

i'm thinking the saiga's are better guns. i've seen video of both the aa-12 and a saiga. the russian weapon looks much handier, and as well seems to have a higher cycle rate.
the aa12 looks like it was made for giants. i mean the thing is huge.

i may be bringing back the dead with this post, however the most up to date aa-12 topic was closed due to multiple topics, and this is one of the topics listed. so ill post here on a few matters that i would like to leave my $.02 on.

1. the saiga or even most sporting shotguns far surpasses the abilities of this weapon. personally i would rather take a benelli m4 into combat over this.

2. shotgun range...honestly i believe that if you were capable of being able to make a 300-400 yard shot with a shotgun. it would make it one of the most versatile and well rounded weapons on the face of this planet.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C9FKqgIdJsg

- ponder this:
you are out in a combat zone, about to make a move on an enemy strong hold. however it can be seen that they have a strong MG defense squad in place. your 350 yards out...a bit over 1000 feet...and your position is still unknown. you take out your shotgun with a hybrid stock setup, swap the barrel out for a rifled/suppressed long barrel and attach your ACOG or which ever optical long range sight you choose. you load your first round which is a custom round made just for long range sniping, or a even more advanced version of the frag-12 shells with a farther range. focus in and take your shots (making sure to take out the MG's themselves, its useless to take out the persons using the mg, more people will just get back on it, destroy the mg, and its useless) now that you have done that the enemy will be scattered in fear of the sniper. now just switch your barrel back to the short CQB and load in your 00 buck or slugs or whichever you choose to make your assault on the strong hold.

now you have done the job of 2 guns with 1...and shotguns have even more possibilities to them.

some may ask this:
why a shotgun? if you need a sniper rifle, use a sniper rifle...if you need a grenade launcher...use one. if you need something for the halls of a building...use a smg or a short assault rifle. well that in itself, is the reason for a shot gun. a shot gun can do the job of any of those weapons all combined into one. it has the ability to fire a very wide range of ammunition due to this low velocity and large bore size and smooth barrel.

Your described scenario would be just as easily accomplished with a standard AR-15 or AR-10. And you wouldn't have to lug around multiple barrels.

very true. however...is it really that hard to keep a second barrel with you?
and in my honest opinion i would rather have a shot gun in close quarters assaults than a rifle. however...that is just me.

thought it may seem it, im not truly trying to say that a shotgun is the best weapon out there. what i am trying to say is that it is just as capable as most other weapons in multiple applications. often times i see that most rifle minded people will tend to look down upon shotguns as being less qualified weapons.
