I thought with all the talk about LEO acting in a way we may not disagree with I would post this link to show that these guys are out there everyday answering the call while the rest of us are home, safe in bed.
Not many are as vocal as me when it comes to LEO acting badly but I hope others share my thanks to those who have the character to truely protect and serve. http://www.odmp.org/year.php |

Great post and great link phillyd2. 99.999% of officers out there are risking their necks to protect us and deserve our respect. Nothing bothers me more than when some scumbag hurts a police officer just doing his job.
The few bad ones deserve our scrutiny but the good ones deserve a big thank you. For every bad copy story you hear you probably don't hear the 1000 good ones so sometimes it's easy to lose sight of that.

Not to downgrade dieing in the line of duty there are a few other things that we have them do that can be about as bad.
Picture this. You are a LEO and you caught a child molester IN THE ACT. You have him in cuffs and you must not abuse him. In fact you must protect him as you take him in. The mother of the child pulls out a gun and try's to shoot him. What is it you must do? No, not what you want to do. Not what is the best thing to do. What is it we ask you to do? And we ask them to tell parents that their kid is dead after an accident, shooting, mugging, etc. I think I would rather be in a gun fight. |
