Default Magazine Question

Hi,

I know a few years ago there was a limit on the number of rounds that a mag could hold.

Is there a legal limit on that still in PA? I think there are other states that have something like that but wondered if we had one.

Thanks

No limit of any sort in PA. There never was one. The federal Assault Weapon Ban (AWB) meant that you couldn't manufacture new mags of >10 capacity from 94 - 04, but that sunsetted.

Other states had and still have local limits: NJ being the nearest.

Yes there was a limit, federal law. It was 10 rounds. PA never passed such a law. So there is no limit in PA today. If you want Hi-Cap mags get them now. After all, nothing is safe while congress is in session.

Well, actually what I was wondering is that I have a very large capacity rotary mag from a SKS type rifle. It came from a relative that passed away. I wanted to sell it but I didn't know if I legally could or if I had to distroy it.

Glad to know that isn't the case!

Are you sure that it's for an SKS? I have heard of "duckbill" 30 round mags for the SKS, but never a drum mag for an SKS. If it's for an SKS...you might not be 922R compliant with a hi cap drum.

I was told that this was for an SKS but the drum does not have a duckbill. Would that make it for a AK style?

Thanks for the info.

I doubt that the drum will work on an SKS because the SKS is designed to have a fixed magazine. The SKS that have the hi caps are either Chinese 30 rounders that is a fixed magazine...or the 30 round duckbill mags that don't seem to work very well in the SKS.

Most likely an AK drum magazine, does it have 2 clips and a hinge where you can open up the back?

If it does it is likely a very desirable chinese drum and they are going for $100+, can you post pics? If you can post a picture we can figure it out for sure, then list it in the marketplace section, I'm sure someone will buy it.

Here are some pictures. The photos actually look worse than the actual magazine.

I any other close ups are needed, let me know and I can post them up.

Again, Thanks for the help on this!
