FRISteve is on a distinguished road
Default Re: The Official "Help the PAFOA become a registered Non-Profit Organization" fundrai

In the online registration, there's a comments section. Just put PAFOA in the comment section and I'll know.

Also, class fees are not fixed by location. So if you sign up for Level-II handgun in H'burg and decide to take the class in Easton, that's okay.

The link above is for handgun classes. We also offer Tactical shotgun and Tactical carbine. http://www.f-r-i.com/shotgun.htm is the link on the new site for shotgun. Carbine page will up shortly.

I have another question: Since this is becoming a non profit organization, what do you expect the overhead to be? What is your salary going to be (before I support something these are questions I want answered.) Will you work to get listed in the Combined Federal Campaign? Will you have intern positions, if so, can I help abuse them? Will you lobby in DC too, or just purely PA? Will you lobby in MD, or just PA? Afterall, MD is the ugly stepchild of PA.

Currently we are honestly unsure what our overhead will be. The overhead for running the website itself (software, hosting) is free currently because our hosting is donated by doug and our software has already been paid for. Currently our only real expenses are our time that we put into developing the website, collecting and writing the content for the main site, updating the forum software and the small amounts of moderation on the forum which I do in my spare time. Obviously as we begin becoming more politically active we will incur travel costs and eventually we may need to hire lawyers to help us with issues but we're really going to have to cross that bridge when we get there.

My personal salary for the forseeable future is going to be $0.00/year as we most likely will not have the funding to pay a salary, hopefully our organization will grow in a way where it may become a job but currently I think I'm going to need to keep my day job for the time being. There are also questions about the setup regarding founders & board members as paid employees that will have to be answered by our lawyers during the incorporation and NPO process (which is why we're running this fundraiser.)

I actually just heard about this program the other day, but it's absolutely something worth looking into for us.

I think at this point we'd be getting ahead of ourselves to say we're going to be having staff at this point, we have a lot of learning and a lot of growing to do.

Our focus will be on Pennsylvania and that may include DC as any federal legislation would obviously effect Pennsylvanian Firearm Owners. As for other states that unfortuantely seems pretty unlikely, I think we're going to have more than enough work to do in Pennsylvania so I don't see that happening anytime soon if at all.

I don't want to mislead anyone here, at this point we are in our infancy, I work a full-time job and do this in my spare time as does doug. We're going to have to take baby steps before we can run and I think that's going to take time.

Unless we receive some sort of huge grant from somewhere or some rich gun owner wills his fortune to us and we all of a sudden have a million dollars, none of us are going to be able to just quit our jobs and dedicate 100% of our time to the organization.

This shouldn't be seen as a lack of intent, or a lack of seriousness towards the purpose, just the cold hard facts of life (I need my health insurance!). We will need to slowly raise money to fund our goals which over time will hopefully put us into a position where we may be able to make our dream our job, but these things don't just happen overnight.

Dan. I apologize, I was going for sarcasm after a few beers. The CFC thing is a great program, and I will see what I can do to find you the information. For those who are unaware, the CFC is the Combined Federal Campaign. All Federal employees can contribute to any number of charitable foundations. There are stipulations to get listed, and I know one of them is that there has to be under a certain percentage overhead.

One of the guys in my unit, who likes shootin, (well he did before going to the sand box in June) is from PA.

And Dan, if you noticed, I paid my money before asking. I still want to abuse interns. These high school co-op people aren't as much fun.

Generally treat them as indentured servants. YOu know, get the dry cleaning, get me a sandwich from a location about 2 hours away, if they are female--play Bill and Monica...etc...etc..etc..

Well I hope the hell they find better looking interns than Monica!
Slick Willie had very poor taste, Hmmm well I guess Monica really had the poor taste and I wont say where.
