Default How to hook PS3 up via wireless router?

Has anyone figured this little mystery of life out yet? I got a Linksys WRT54G wireless router last night but my PS3 won't recognize the access point. I haven't tried adding the PS3 into the router's software as a device yet, not really sure that is needed...

Any insight would be appreciated! I got COD4 butt to kick online as soon as I get this thing working!

I have a PS3 and Wii hooked up to a wireless router without troubles. What encryption method are you using? If using 128 bit you will have to type the 26 digit code not the 13 letter passphrase used to generate it.

You have to go into the network settings in the PS3. there you will see a screen asking for your ssid (name of your network) on the next page it will ask for security settings set that to whatever the router is set at (wpa etc.) set that to what you have your router set at.
Depending on the setting it could also ask for a pass key or password. after all set up should work no problem.

Hope this helps

Also make sure wireless is inabled on your router settings I have seen this before.

I'm having trouble even getting the PS3 to see the router...it's only 20 feet away so it shouldn't be a range issue. It did see it briefly when I first hooked it up but at only 7% signal strength. Now I can't get it to see it at all??

try hooking it directly into the router if that works fine then you may have a bum wireless ethernet hookup 20 ft you should see at least 80% signal unless you have steel walls between the two.

always works best with a hard wired connection if you can run one I would do it and you will never have to worry about latency issues etc. I would be concerened that it isnt finding the router if it is new however. It should pick it up the router fine at twenty feet.

I used the same linsys you are using and now use a verizon fios wireless modem or the linksyswireless N depending on my location and they all work just fine.

Ahh, ok...just wondering because I've been cruising the PS3 forums and I've heard that LinkSys isn't the greatest for PS3 use...others say it works fine?? LOL

Welcome to the PAFOA by he way!
