Default My Right Shall Not Be Questioned

Last while chilln night at my friend's house she jumped to a sound. The sound was the specific sound her psychotic xboyfriend's car door makes, and a few seconds later came the sound of her front door being slammed by fists. Well fortunately I myself anticipated this as a possible occurrence, and I know that in this state the right to bare arms in self defense shall not be questioned so short story short I'm glad I brought my rifle with me and a magazine.

I ran to where my rifle was, and took it out of its case. Then I got my magazine out of its hiding, and listened to him banging on the walls very hard while yelling as I in pitch blackness against a wall next to the now window he was slamming placed the magazine into my rifle. At that point he went back to the door, and started kicking it. I could hear the molding cracking, and breaking. That's when I took the safety off, looked at this poor girl crying, and pulled the action back - locked and loaded. He stopped kicking the door finally after a few minutes. Then went next to the window I was by, and started yelling that we were dead. I was shaking badly knowing that the odds were pretty good that I may have kill someone to defend myself, and it was horrible, because I know I would do it: if he broke into the house, stormed it, and refused to freeze at gun point. He went from the window that I was next to to another one, and kicked it in making glass shatter everywhere. Right after that he drove off fleeing the scene he had made.

My friend was crying, and I was shaking pretty badly. The neighbors came down from upstairs knocking on the door to make sure everything was okay, and to say that they called the police. Once the cop arrived I immediately told him about myself being armed. He just asked me where the gun was, and then told me to leave to leave it there paying no to much concern to it. We explained the story, and he seemed to want to have every crime he could be charged against him. Before he left he told me to be very careful with my rifle: that I can't just shoot anyone, and that it would have only been okay to use it if he broke it, and came directly at me in which case as he put it I would have had to do what I needed to do.

Tonight I called this guy to find out that he was on a drunken spree, has multiple charges against him from last night, and he said that he was going to kill me if he could have got in. I talked to him for a few minutes more, and I think he is okay with me now at least; but, just for now.

Well crazy story right?

She needs a PFA and safety plan so she is never alone.

+1 on this advice.

Also way to keep your cool. I dont think i would be ok with some one after that but Im not in your situation. Just remember that if he would have gotten in he would have come at you. All and all a good job on your part. Be proud of that.

+1 what Lycanthorpe said.

If she can temporarily move somewhere else that is good, at least until this dirtbag is picked up by police.

Does he know where you live?

Don't call him again for legal reasons. He could turn it around and say you were harassing him.

Great job on keeping your cool, and not just shooting for the sake of shooting. Also, great job on being prepared.

Good job! I wonder what way things would have gone if you announced that you were armed and he needed to leave the area NOW? When BG's are drunk...it could have made it worse...

BTW, what rifle were you using?

You handled the situation 100% perfectly for what was given.

HOWEVER, THIS IS BOTHERING ME.

Thanks a lot for the support, because there wasn't much support coming from my friend or her father that I was armed. He said that he wishes that I never brought it or bring it again, and suggested that I just use a stick. Her father just can't accept that some people simply need to be killed or have fear of the fact in order to live free. As for civil protection she refuses to arm herself, and can't accept the truth as well. In a way I can't blame her or anyone that lives in this place that's a sanctuary compared to where I came from.

FYI I was packing my AK-WASR, and he doesn't know where I live nor that I was armed.
