I have two 40 GB HD's on my PC equally partitioned into four 20 GB disks (C / E and D / F). Is there a Win XP administrative tool to transfer disk space to the "C" (system drive) from the "E" logical drive?
There is very little data on the "E" drive and I'd like to transfer 10 GB of E's 20 GB to C. I also have Norton System Works. Might there be anything in that suite that could accomplish disk space transfer?

IOW, I just want to transfer unused disk space, not data. I've been googling and it seems that I can do what I want with partition magics "drive copy" which is a watered down version of partition magic. I also found that Norton Ghost may be able to transfer unused disk space.

Tony, Did you try cleaning up your c: drive by deleting any temp files and such? Also, do you use XP's restore point feature? If so you can reclaim as much as a few Gig's by reducing the size of space used for restore points. Ah, resizing the partition isn't very hard. It's not really transferring unused disk space as it is resizing the partition. You may want to consider merging the partitions as well into a single 40 GB partition.
Either way, it can be done with Partition Magic if you have that available or you can boot a Linux Live CD and do it from there. I generally use a Knoppix CD or System Rescue CD. Do you have any, even slight, experience with a Linux command line?

Tony,
This product came recommended for resizing XP partitions, but I never used it : http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/bootitng.html The trail version is fully functional for 30 days. One thing though, any attempt to resize may fail, you need to back up your important data to another drive before trying!!!! One more thought, find a sale on a larger drive and buy it. It will come with disk cloning software to move your data from your current drive to the new one. Hawk,

have you thought about getting an external hard drive? usually $100-$150 will get you more than enough memory
