AIM by any other name is still the American Indian Movement. They've been claiming that they were going to do something like this for years, part of what started the Wounded Knee fiasco in the 70's, now they're making noise again. Nothing new here.

I'm not sure that they would have the legal standing per se since they are all members of differing nations. They could probably try by using a subset of the organization but depending on the type and amount of support that they actually get from members of the Lakotah nation it could once again prove to be a tempest in a teapot.

They have confronted the Feds before! It was called " Wounded Knee II" in the 1970's. Russell Means can be too loud sometimes, but AIM leaders like Russell, Dennis Banks, Clyde Bellecourt have done much to bring awareness to the real problems Native American people have had to live with for from the time Europeans landed here. In my opinion they are in fact the great and mighty Souix as Anglos know them. I just wish Russell would straighten his act up sometimes. He has been at odds with other AIM leaders and members.
