Glad you guys are ok. And... Damn if that isn't one of the strangest things I've ever heard.

I'm always leaving the open box to the side when at the range. I'll have to keep from doing that now! That's insane. Glad everyone's good. Never heard of anything like that happening before

It is probably a one in a million incident but thanks for posting. I would never have thought of this possibility. Now I will pay more attention to where I have my box of shells while I am shooting.

Grad that your okay.
Interesting thing tho. I always keep ammo next to me when I shoot. I donno how many times where I found crap load of empties in bulk box of 22 when I shoot my 10/22... Something to keep in mind at range i guess...

Looks like (from the pics) that it's Federal 9mm. Did you put the bullets back in the plastic before you took these pics? You said "they were all over the place"? Why no photos of the table itself? I would think there would be powder burns somewhere - on plastic or on table. The brass casings are so light weight and them dropping down from a relatively low height makes me think they don't have much force to them (i've had them bounce off of me and my head and my friends) they have the force of a fly. Why no photos of the case or the bullet? The case should have been easily identified from the others due to a non-firing pin primer strike? Seems weird. Not that there are not anomalies, but this is strange. Do you still have the rest of the box?

I think I remember watching a video about when the entire round is unsupported, the casing is actually more dangerous than the bullet. For example, when you put rounds into a fire and they cook off, the casing goes one direction the bullet the other. IIRC, the casing actually has more force behind it than the bullet. If anybody remembers what show this was or if I'm totally messing that up I'm all ears!

That's crazy but glad everyone is okay. With those kind of odds going I would spend a buck on lotto.
