Pennsylvania Firearm Owners Association
HB80 Signed by Governor Corbett!

Thanks to everyone's support of this bill, it has been signed into law by Governor Corbett. Municipalities can now be held liable for firearms laws on the books which are in direct violation of the state's preemption laws. To link to continuing discussion on the new law, CLICK HERE

On a historical note, the last president definitly known to carry a firearm while in office was Theodore Roosevelt. Teddy was a big 2A supporter and loved to shoot. He also had a couple of attempts on his life at times and wanted to be able to defend himself if possible.

I think most gun laws are absurd anyway, and would likely disagree with the DA for doing so, but I fail to see how filing charges against a President for breaking a law could land a prosecutor in jail.

All hypothetically speaking, of course.
The President is not only a federal officer, he is the only federal officer with executive power. All other federal officers technically work for him, and cannot have any executive powers that he does not. Most, if not all states' firearms laws exempt federal agents, and most likely could not constitutionally interfere with a federal officer even if they did't.

Well, if I were President I'd be carrying. And probably not too secretively about it either. As for our current one, since he has admitted to using pot and/or selling illegal drugs, wouldn't that cause him to be a prohibited person?

In some counties in NY, the Sheriffs Departments are borderline Gestapo. They even dress the part.

Jackson shot a man on the White House lawn for treason. Now that's a damned president!

Most, but definitively not all. I'm not saying at all that it's a likely scenario, but possible? Yes, definitely possible.

Whether or not he could by the letter of law, he most certainly could in practice, if he so desired. And he'd never be called on it unless he fumbled with it and had a ND while in public.

I don't see why the President couldn't. How do we know they didn't in the past? I don't think the current President does, but he could!

selling drugs? really?

just selling drugs is not a disqualifier. you have to be convicted.
