Is it too late to sever Philly from PA and donate it to NJ or MD?

I'd like to see the looks on the elected peoples' faces when they find out that NJ/NY laws dont work. The problem isn't the guns, its the people in that city.

Philly voters are insignificant for statewide issues. The problems philly faces are in large part created by large blocks of the rest of the state that have been effective in sweeping the human garbage of the entire region into philly and neglecting it there to fester with expected results. An attitude that seeks to further isolate and ignore philly will only result in more crime spilling out from it.

With regard to gun control, the goal as always is to educate the public.

Remind people how safe Newark and Camden are (yikes!). How about DC or LA. Disarming the law abiding increases violent crime and reduces public safety. Don't hesitate to remind people of this every opportunity you get.

The anti's are going to come down hard on this too. Last night they broke from regular programming to show how two LEOs received non-fatal gunshot wounds while serving a narcotics warrant. Why do you suppose they went wall to wall on every network? They're trying to whip the public into a frenzy that something must be done about this "firearms epidemic." Scare tactics always work best. [/tinfoil hat]

No disrespect to the LEOs, my prayers are with them for a speedy recovery.

Much disrespect to the press and the other anti's.

Slim,
Your observations are spot on!

Well I really hope the officer's recover fully and quickly.

It amazes me how anti-gun people think putting more strict gun control on honest people is going to stop criminals from getting and using guns.

This story MUST BE FALSE

Quote:
Johnson said of this latest shooting, "This shows officers just doing their jobs. They serve numerous warrants throughout the year, every single week, every single month. ... One of the sure things you know when you serve a narcotics warrant is there's going to be a weapon in there."
How can that be, there is a law already against illegal drugs and weapons possession.

Quote:
The police commissioner said the availability of guns is "out of hand here in the City of Philadelphia," going on to call the gun laws "the softest ... in the entire nation."
Seem like this statement should say the availability of criminals is "out of hand here in the City of Philadelphia," going on to call the prosecution of criminals for violating laws "the softest ... in the entire nation.

Quote:
Street said officials in Washington, D.C., and Harrisburg "resisting reasonable efforts to curtail the flow of guns out into the community need to take notice of all this."
The court system, and prision officials in Washington, D.C., and Harrisburg "resisting reasonable efforts to curtail the flow of early Release of criminals out into the community need to take notice of all this."

Quote:
"It's very difficult to imagine how these officers are going to be able to continue to do their jobs under the circumstances where there are just so many illegal guns floating around the streets," the mayor said.
Or how about correcting this statement to read:
"It's very difficult to imagine how these officers are going to be able to continue to do their jobs under the circumstances where there are just so many repeat offending criminals floating around the streets,"

Quote:
"I'm not sure what's going on in the mindset of many of these people who are engaged in the criminal element in Philadelphia. But a new message is going out: you will not shoot at Philadelphia police officers, at all," said Nutter, who will be sworn into office in January.
Wow how about this novel idea of the D.A.'s, judges, court system REALLY prosecuting criminals and making violent offender serve full term sentences.

IF they are really serious about sending a message how charging criminals for illegal possession of firearms with its 5 year jail sentence and enforcing it instead of using it as a plea bargaining tool to make the D.A. job easier. Get rid of this concurrent sentencing, and especially do away with the unique Philly "money making" bail bond system that puts police officers at extra risk to recatch bail jumpers.

Police officer put themselves at great personal risk arresting criminals and when criminals final get punishment for their personal bad behavior. What kind of stupid message does the releasing the criminals early from prison for good behavior in prison send? Why should they be rewarded for good behavior in prison when they were put the criminal bad behavior outside of prison.

IF violent criminals are severing their full sentences in prison for their criminal actions, all the police officers and citizens in those communities will be much safer.

These are the same people that want to go after firearm manufactures for letting their products out to the general public for lawful proposes. How about using the same logic on them and going after the same the judges, District Attorney and the criminal justice system who are not protecting the public from its dangerous criminal products being released from prison early or plea barging cases away to make their job easier.

Sorry to the injured police officers and citizens in Philly that have to deal with catering to the criminal elements in your city by public officials.

Looks like the "suspect" is a 16 year old who shot the officers with a stolen gun.

http://abclocal.go.com/wpvi/story?se...cal&id=5751540

ABC is the only site I found that admits the gun was stolen. Everyone else pretends like the kid got the gun at the corner store.

Street says he is going to Harrisburg on Dec. 10 to push for "tougher" gun control. We definitely need to keep an eye on this.

Love the site guys. Long time lurker and finally joined today.
