Homes for Our Troops is calling on Pittsburgh area residents to Volunteer for its "Build Brigade" at the future home of SPC James Fair at 112 Osterle Lane, Ross Township, PA. November 15, 16, & 17th .
Skilled framers, roofers & siders needed, as well as volunteers for site clean up, volunteer check in, food coordination, parking control etc. All skill levels needed! What Is A Build Brigade? A Build Brigade is a special event where we start with just a foundation and with the help of skilled volunteers, enthusiastic unskilled volunteers, neighbors and friends and lots of elbow grease, we build a water-tight shell in 3 days! Who is SPC James Fair? Army SPC Fair sustained life-altering injury due to a roadside bomb while serving in Iraq . The explosion in November 2003 left the Coraopolis soldier completely blind and took both of his hands. The blast also sent shrapnel throughout James' body, severely injuring his right leg and causing a traumatic brain injury. Now James needs a home that will give him back his independence and we need your help to build this American Heroe's home! We will be working at the site on Thursday November 15th - Saturday November 17th from 8am - 5pm. Although anyone over the age of 10 is welcome to come work, we have a big need for framers, roofers, carpenters and siders who can bring all their own tools. We look forward to working with you this weekend. When to arrive: We will be onsite Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 8am -- 5pm Parking and Directions: Please park at the Oesterle Ball Park at the end of Oesterle Ln. We need to keep the cars off the street as we have many deliveries scheduled. What to bring: Please fill out the attached waiver and bring it with you to the site, it will speed up the check in process. Please bring a tool belt if you have one and any fully charged battery operated tools that you think you may need. If you are a tradesperson please bring any tools necessary to your trade. **Print out the Build Brigade Volunteer Release Form and bring it with you. Contact Melanie Warwick ** What to wear: Please dress in layers it is going to be chilly and we plan to work rain or shine (construction boots preferred). Upon check in we will be handing out Special Build Brigade T Shirts that we are requesting people put over their other clothing. What to expect: Please come ready to work! Please come straight to the check-in tent and we will check you in and direct you to a Project Manager. Food and beverages will be provided by our friends. ***Please bear in mind that we are a non profit organization looking to help our most severely wounded veterans and we will not tolerate any unsafe acts. Anyone who is found to be under the influence or in possession of alcohol or any other controlled substance will be escorted off of the building site.***

I wish I wasn't going away this weekend. I would love to have the opportunity to help this soldier and his family.
Prayers sent hoping that all goes well, and that Mr. Fair's home is up and ready by saturday.
