If this comes to fruition, I'm in for a few tickets.

I'm in for one. BTW, I believe Glocktalk has done raffles, maybe someone can talk to their admin/person-in-charge about how to set it up legally.

As I suspected this raffle needs to be conducted by a non-profit organization, but the big issue is crossing from county to county. As I see it only a few, if any, organizations, would be willing to solicit money for this cause because of the nature and the unknowns of what really may have happened. And if an organization is willing it gets very complicated. If say a gun club in Mckean county held the raffle all tickets need to be sold from the physical location. Crossing into different municipalities causes other issues. The main problem is we are mostly on the same page, but scattered across the state. I'm still working on it. Please keep pledging folks, because if I can't make this work I will come up with something else.

How about trying just a gift certificate for a major chain store that sells guns.
You wouldn't be raffling a gun per say, but that doesn't mean you can't buy one with a gift certificate. Something you can just send to anyone in any county. I know most don't like the major chain stores (i don't either), but, at least you can send the gift certificate all over the state they are honored throughout the whole chain. NO FLAMING PLEASE, but, who doesn't live near a Gander, Dicks, Cabelas. (just examples) I'm sure anyone here would be willing to travel a few miles for a gun they won. You also wouldn't have to make a choice on what gun is raffled. They can pick their own. This is all not about the gun, its about raising money for a good cause. By getting a gift certificate you avoid all the hassles of a "gun raffle" and the legalities. Just my nickels worth

I trust that everyone on this forum that bought a raffle ticket if they won would use it to buy a gun. I know I would!
I can't see them spending a hefty gift certificate on some fishing flies and a giant cooler.

It's not the gun raffle that is an issue. It is the raffle. In Pa only a non profit and the state of course can hold a game chance. I could raffle a pack of gum and it still would be illegal. If a raffle can be held every county where a ticket could be sold must be informed and papers filed blaah, blaah, blaah. I am in agreement that the prize in of no importance. A gun would be cool though due to the nature of the cause. I'm thinking a give away may be legal with donations appreciated, but the crossing municipalities may still be an issue, and I'm not sure if such a thing needs to be advertised to allow others without a horse in the race to be legal. That is allow people who have no intention of donating a genuine chance to win. I'm OK with that provided it's legal and others are willing to donate knowing someone who does not may win.
