My wife has contemplated using a pillow to snuff me out as a means to stop my snoring.

Keeping a loaded firearm in the bed may be too tempting for her to resist...

LOL yeah that's a good point. Even more reason to keep it on my side of the bed .

Was that the Intro to handguns course at Hellertown? I was there with my wife. I had the Glock with night sights and she was shooting bullseyes with our S & W 642 with laser sights.

I agree with everybody waking up from sleep most people wake up confused and your brain will take several seconds to react to what is going on i rather not think in a life or death situation. Its always best to just have it at hand so you can have more time to think of a solution to the situation at hand. Pray someone is not that stupid to come in my house LOL. i think they would have a real bad day.

Have a dog. and a bird that flips out when other people come around.
Unless they have a 4 man team behind a battering ram for the doors OR decide to pull a superman through the windows, options are pretty slim.
Either of those Big noise ='s OFF hook 911 call.

Ever break a newer window?
SOunds like a bomb going off.
NOt like the commercials where dude silently breaks a window with a crowbar and sneaks into the house.

anyways........ Lock your doors and windows. Thieves/Intruders hate work.

COmpact 1911 on the nightstand bedside and a MOssy 590 with 8 00Buck in the tube and 1 halfway in the pipe.

If theyre coming for me, Im upstairs and It'll make one helluva fatal funnel .

cant go nowhere but jump out the window 20' up so guess Ill have to stand and fight.

that's retarded. I go to bed with the expressed purpose of being unconscious, not alert. If shit goes down and wakes me up, i want to have my gun right there.

This is equivalent to telling people to carry with an empty chamber to improve situational awareness because you'll need that extra second. You shouldn't handicap yourself.

oh man, i've tried sleeping with my gun under the pillow, but it would end up somewhere else (especially if you sleep with someone, if you know what i mean)..and it wasnt comfortable, i guess i need a new pillow. My gf and i have a yorkie and he is hell of loud whenever he hears anything going on at night. but to touch on point, i keep my 45
on my side of the bed, on the floor.

I don't have a pistol, yet. When I get one, it will be placed a few feet from my bed. I do keep my Mosin Nagant a couple of feet away from my bed. I consider my sleeping habits unusual. I can sleep through music, tv, people talking etc. However, at night when all is quiet, I awake to the slightest creek of a board or door swing. My best alarm system is my Beagle. His bark is quite loud and intimidating, although he is not. He would be more prone to lick someone to death rather than bite them!

I agree you shouldn't have A gun within arms reach at night.

I have two loaded guns on my night stand, both within an arms reach.
