Default Re: Time for my First AR build..

So I know nothing of building AR's, and I will continue to know nothing if I dont ask you guys these questions.
If I were to buy a kit, say like this one http://www.del-ton.com/Rifle_Kit_p/rkt103.htm would I need anything else to complete the rifle? What sort of tools, special or otherwise would I need?

The kit comes with everything but the stripped lower.

You will need a set of punches (brass are nice, but steel will do) to install the pins, a small hammer, some masking tape to protect the finish of the lower when you tap in the pins and a razor blade to help install a detent pin and spring.

I am confused, the description says :16" light weight rifle kit comes with everything needed to complete a stripped lower receiver.
Includes fully assembled, headspaced and test fired upper receiver, lower parts kit and buttstock.
Rifle kit does not include stripped lower

why does it say it comes with everything for stripped lower than say does not include stripped lower? It says in the parts about the trigger and all that. What am I missing here? From the parts list it looks like everything. Is it everything inside but not the metal case that is actually the stripped lower?

A "KIT" in gun jargon is all the parts for a complete rifle except the reciever and a mag

Yeah, the stripped metal lower is what is considered the "firearm".

Everything else comes in the kit......through the mail.

Default Re: Time for my First AR build..

In the video the lower reciever had some cool etchings with "peace through superior firepower" where can I find ones like that, or custom engraved ones. for example I was thinking that in the safety it could say "DEMOCRAT" then in semi it would say "REPUBLICAN" then in full auto it would say "LIBERTARIAN" that would be awesome!
So I have looked and a stripped lower is like $110 and the kit is like $460 so I can do this for around $600. Time to start saving.

So I sent an e-mail to anvil about the engraving. I figure I can afford the stripped lower soon and save up for the rest as I can. I think the sig p229 40cal might come next on my wishlist befor I can complete this.
I notice the kits I have browsed online have some different options, what exactly is the advantage of a "free float barrel", should I go with the basic or add on some of these features? And I have seen AR's for 700+ , will the one I build for under 600 be that much better than these? I dont want to go through all this and end up with a rifle that is identacle to the cheapest AR I could have bought for not much more money.
