I just joined the forums, mainly so that I can express my concern over this. I open carry often, while I run errands, and have never been stopped or questioned.

I do hope that gnbrotz can get this worked out. The legal president that this case will set probably will help many of us in the future.

I will send my support contribution in as soon as I have extra money in my coffer.

Good Luck!

UPDATE:

Ok folks. The story on the second letter, sent certified, is that it was simply a duplicate of the letter received on Friday. That's their procedure apparently, send one regular and one certified(to satisfy the law).

Possible second update later tonight.

If they arrest you for failure to turn in your CPL, could you sue them for false arrest?

It sure seems like they are not meeting the letter, or even the spirit of the law.

I dont think so, at this point, he would be not only arrested because of disobaying the Sheriff, but lose a lot of credibility in his "good will".
Best to resign to the letter, then fight it properly then to get arrested and have his character put in question.

The sheriff is requesting the LTCF in what they call "Pending investigation" I believe, Naturally, if he does nothing about it, the investigation can take years to accomplish, this is standard procedure. If he acts on it, he can then force the law's hand and get what is called "Due process". Basicaly expediting the process and forcing the courts to take the decision for the Sheriff.

Maybe, BUT, like Frenchy said, comply and fight the wrong doing of the sheriff and constable. That's really the only sensible path.

Nope, the way I understand it, a revocation is final unless reversed.
He has 20 days to appeal.

This is getting very interesting and could be the beginning of a state-wide precedent...

Pretty shocking...what I don't understand is that by revoking his permit, they force him to open carry.
