Default Reputation Notifications

Is it possible to:

1. Get a PM, or
2. Get an email at our registered address, or
3. Both

when someone gives a user reputation points? I had a few users give my account some positive rep points awhile back, and I didn't realize it until today, as I don't normally check my User CP.

Also, if it's possible to know who provided the feedback, that would be nice too. Not only would it prevent a user from anonymously flaming another user, it would allow the recipient of positive feedback to return the favor.

Unfortuantely as far as I can tell the system does not allow me to let users see who has left reputation for them, nor does it allow me to send notifications when reputation is received.

Does anyone even find them useful??? I find you get to know people pretty quickly by what they say..not how they're "rated".... always seemed kinda lame to me....

I rated you CR...so hook me up...haha. I like it because it does differenciates you from the other yahoo's (hope I don't get sued by yahoo for using the term yahoo) posting on this forum. I found a handful of knowledgable folks on this forum...and by rating them...it sorts out those that are in the know...versus those that need to know.

Actually, Not many users know how the reputation system works.

I found this out the other night in chat,, when a user asked Dan about it, basically, when you think a post is well thought out, you can add to the user's reputation. You can also remove from the rep the same way.
The begining user can add by 1 point every time they find a post usefull, admins can add by larger increments, and as your rep value goes up, you also add/delete more value to other users you sent reputations to.

Posting and segniority count some what even if no one ever sends you rep points, but in general count for very little.

From what i can see in my user panel, i have had good points for posts, replies and also for posting links that backed up arguments for others, I also have a few points for jokes and making peoples day

Although I agree that it helps to keep track of who is who as far as good posts and bad ones, it makes me wonder because there are people who have few posts yet have good rep points.
Maybe they have good friends
You can also rate a thread, its a 5 star system, and I dont know how this all fits in the reputation thing, but it probably does. Dan can say more on that subject.

I dont post to have points, although its nice to see people enjoy reading the posts and take the time to send a thank you on it.
Most of the points i gathered here where really not posts about guns at all, One the "guest house" was about membership, the other Alarm Systems was to try and help users of alarm systems and future owners. But its nice to know people liked the threads enough to show it.

Actually, Just because I love to crunch numbers, I made a stat page that reflects the top user in reality.
rep/post= average

Some times it just dont pay to have good numbers
