My response is: "I have a purpose for my visit, which I suppose I need to explain. I am here for your medical knowledge which is demonstrated by the MD after your name.

I don't go to the Oprah show or the Readers Digest for medical information and I don't go to a Medical Doctor for non medical information. Can we please stay within the purpose of my visit and the areas of your professional credentials, DOCTOR."

Doctors tend to think they know everything. Yes they are smart people as medical school is difficult, but they don't know everything and I am not necessarily interested in their opinions on non medical subjects. Again THERE IS A PURPOSE TO MY VISIT, SURPRISE, SURPRISE.

That web site really irritated me, so I went to the CDC web site to look up some stats about Doctors VS Guns. I found there were 3,719 accidental firearm related deaths between 2000-2004. Doctors accidentily killed 13,192 people during the same time period. I'm sure the firearm data was a lot more accurate since it's a little hard to hide when you've been shot. Doctors protect their own and usually don't tell you when they screw up. So just remember Doctors are 3x more deadly than stupid people with guns.

By the way. Opie And Anthony RULE! Cancel your XM Satelite radio service if you have one to show support for taking them off the air. I cancelled both of mine. XM sucks!

They asked me and I said no. They asked my better half on anothr occasion and she said yes. She told me she was nervous to say no. It goes to show you how they intimidate people.

You will see more of this with national health care. the medical community are a bunch of ass wipes if you ask me. yea they have made great strides in healthcare but they are not smart enough to regulate themselves and let medical insurance be affordable for everyone. What is going to happen is the gov is going to come in and kill the medical industry. In a way they deserve it because they are greedy bastards.

I am all for free market but i also understand the greed factor and it is definately in the healthcare industry.

It is absolutely ridiculous that you go to a doctor and pay for his services only to have him collect info via prying questions to further an anti-second amendment agenda. Find a new doc and tell the old one why.

Just a comment regarding hospital intake and weapons/domestic violence:

Many hospitals have it as policy that during the initial/ongoing assements, the patient is approached and asked if they are "afraid" of anyone in their home / their spouse is ever violent, etc... the reasoning, as I've had it explained, is that the battered woman is more likely to seek help if it is offered on a silver platter.

As for my doctor asking me if I own guns - well... if I'm going into an MRI, I shouldn't have it with me... beyond that - why is it thier buisness?

Do you or your husband smoke?

Are your kids in the appropriate car seats when driving in your automobile?

Do you have smoke detectors in your home?

Do you have any guns at home?

These are all questions to which my wife has been asked by either our pediatrician or the nurse/tech working for them. Thankfully, I have a sassy wife who wouldn't stand for such a line of questioning. She simply tells them it's none of their business.

Pretty damn frustrating that they even ask. What's really troublesome is the questions that kids get asked in their schools. You think the doctors are bad

You should have seen my (newly trained) D.A.R.E. officer in 5th grade, when he was talking about wine being alcohol... and that we wern't allowed to drink alcohol...

He asked if we'd ever had wine - I told him I had wine EVERY WEEK... he flipped.... I then said it was for religious purposes. He realized he'd gone a little too far.

you got nothing to hide, then I say bring on the questions. If you have something to hide, then I say, none of your business. They are there trying to protect children which is very admirable, yes it is a little puchy and nosey, but at least theres people out there asking.

A doctor I used to have asked me the gun question once...I asked her if she masturbated with 3 fingers or 4...abruptly ended that line of questioning.

Good to learn this.

Somehow, though, after looking at all these comments I don't think it's the trace amounts of airborne lead particles the docs mostly concern themselves with....it's those pesky bigguns
