Default any fellow GA pilots on here? got a scenario question

are there any other pilots on here? it just occured to me the last time I was over the rancocas in NJ - supposing you have an engine failure or some other need to bring it down immediately ...and the kicker being you just happen to be over NJ or MD or something.

Bring along a gun lock or one of those center of mass safes? but what about those pesky evil JHP rounds? (NJ at least)

It would seem to me that if you lock it up and the ammo in a separate container you would be covered under federal federal laws. it would be real difficult for them to prove you didn't have it locked up before you landed. Just like driving through the state as long as it conforms to federal laws and you have no stops in that state. however as your flying over the state your in violation if you don't have it locked up.

My oldest son is an instructor pilot at ER in Daytona. I can ask him and get back to you if you want?
