Actually, you'd probably get in less trouble for not having your driver's license on you.

Having to post $5000-$25000 for bail would have to suck. Or bond of just 10% of that (nonrefundable) and having your house or other assets in hock until court proceeding are complete.

Always carry your LTCF.. even if you aren't carrying your piece.. ya never know when one of your friends might forget his/her pistol in your car and you get stopped and searched(either legit or illegally searched). At least you'd have your butt covered for concealed weapon charges.

Everyone should get a LTCF and carry it, even if they are anti-gun and swear to never own or touch one. No sense in tying up the courts on another senseless charge that could have been avoided. ya just never know..

If you have it carry it, i cant wait to get mine...so i can carry IT and my gun. That is what they are for, right? No need to give LEO's any more reason to snoop around....

Actually the idea of a color copy (front and back) of all the cards you carry in your wallet then put in a safe place sounds like a good idea. Saves alot of time and trouble should you lose or have your wallet stolen.

I would disagree. its not going to be worth the paper its printed on, and with todays computer software and printers it could have been made from scratch in minutes. just going to make a bad situation worse as he's gonna think your a fraud the whole time he's dealing with you.

You're allowed to do that. Centre Co. Sheriff Denny Nau even suggests making a copy of your original - shrinking it down for wallet size. However, that is with the old paper permits - which are still the official license. The plastic credit card ones we get from most counties are just representation of your real license - the paper one. A copy of the permit that you received is proof enough. Your permit # will be checked for validity, not the type of paper or plastic.

My OP was only refering to your ability to gather as much information as possible as easily as possible once your wallet has gone missing. All the people and or agencies you need to contact about missing credit cards etc.
Not suggesting it be used in any other way

Yes, § 6109. There is no specific wording on copying and carrying copies though.

The licenses, required info and physical specs are uniform across PA by law. If you are issued anything other than the legislative and State Police approved paper license - it proves that a copy of the original(real) license is legal.

Even though you were handed a plastic license, there is a paper one sitting in file at the sheriff's office and one sent to the state police. All those paper licenses are the the same, uniform acrossed the state.. thus making them the legal license by definition of law.
