Question A silly gun cleaning question

Ok this may sound odd, but I have my first blued gun. Everything else I own is stainless.

So before I go and screw up the finish, what is the best way to clean a blued barrel after shooting? I was going to just wipe it down with a dry cloth then go over it silicone rag.

Thanks
Mel

Get some of that free weapon shield they are giving us PAFOA members. Wipe your weapon down with that once. I only every used a lint free cloth and rem oil for the outside of my gun which kinda isn't the greatest oil but it works. I use the weapon shield for cleaning and lubing the barrel and action. You can buy remoil in the little bottle or spray can for like 5-10 bucks, and it lasts a good while. I found that it works alright.

Agreed. Just wet patch. I never use a brush unless it's heavily copper fouled and accuracy is dropping off.

I clean my blued pistols the same way I clean the stainless except I use a nylon brush instead of brass. Hoppes #9 solvent and Breakfree CLP. Not a scratch to be seen.

So, I suppose a dishwasher or washing machine is out of the question. Oh well.

On my 22 target pistols (one blue, one stainless). I break them down run a bore snake a few times, spray Remoil all over the parts and use a toothbrush. I then run everything under hot water in the sink (cleans them up real nice). Towel dry and blow out all the water with compressed air. Then lightly oil as usual.

Hawk,
