Re: A silly gun cleaning question
I think one of the biggest things to be careful with blued guns, reguardless of what you clean it with, is oils from your hands and finger prints. My dad's old Ruger Super Single Six has a finger print permanantly "burned" (bad word choice, I know) into it. I rigorously wipe down my Colt with a Silicon cloth after any time that it is handled. Seems to do the trick and the bluing is just as nice and purty as the day that I bought it.
I love a nice blued gun, it's a shame that bluing isn't more durable.
