1984 all over again.....

My youngest burnt his fingers on the stove so we rush him to the E.R. He's just learning how to talk so they drilled us there about what we did for a living and all kinds of crap, they asked me if I guns in the house...never asked how they were stored or anything. Boy did this piss me off, so for every ignorant question I was asked I answered and returned with a ignorant question of my own. The doctor found this as humorous as I did. I like to play the game of 'I'll beat you with brains before brawn any day of the week'. So after all this, the next day, in the middle of dinner (I make it a point that we all sit down for dinner) who shows up, caseworkers from the department of children & youth with a county sheriff. They made it a point early in the conversation to ask about the guns. I simply pointed out the Liberty safe and asked if there would be any other questions on the matter. Then came the real surprise for these caseworkers...the sheriff...a good friend of mine from way back.
Dinner didn't even get cold. Guilty until proven innocent. |

Is there any law in PA dictating how guns have to be kept? Can't you just tell them to go away? What gives them the authority to interupt dinner and force you to talk to them? |

Nope, no laws...only reccomondations.
I could have told them to go away but that would have prolonged the scrutny. When I opened the door and saw Shawn (the sheriff) I decide to end the 'investigation' right then and there. Believe me, those caseworkers should have felt pretty stupid after leaving. |

I remember when i was 16 or so i got asked that by the doctor during a physical.
"do your parents have any guns in the house?" "what does this have to do with my physical?" "it's just a question we ask" "oh, and if i said there were?" "I'd ask you if they were locked up" "Are you a gun expert?" "not really." "So when my parents sue you for malpractice stemming from whatever uninformed advice on guns you give me, what will your insurance company say?" "Forget I asked" "That's a good idea" I was a smart(ass) kid. |
