Is this better than Blue or stainless? Why isnt this more common? I dont see it as an option for any of the big names, so I assume its not good for some reason.

Walter Birdsong's Black-T finish is one of the best you'll get on a firearm, it's Teflon based and he designed for use on military submarines IIRC. The military contracts a lot of work to him and I've never met or heard of anyone that didn't like the Black-T or Green-T teflon coating. The trick is that it's not easy to imitate, so cheap knock-offs won't last long in the business, but the good ones will stick around. Walter's been refinishing guns and military components for a long, long time now.
