Teflon coating?

Is this better than Blue or stainless? Why isnt this more common? I dont see it as an option for any of the big names, so I assume its not good for some reason.

Walter Birdsong's Black-T finish is one of the best you'll get on a firearm, it's Teflon based and he designed for use on military submarines IIRC. The military contracts a lot of work to him and I've never met or heard of anyone that didn't like the Black-T or Green-T teflon coating. The trick is that it's not easy to imitate, so cheap knock-offs won't last long in the business, but the good ones will stick around. Walter's been refinishing guns and military components for a long, long time now.

KG Coatings (GunKote) is used by MANY gun makers. As is NIC Industries (Ceracoat).

S&W, Kimber, SIG, as well as many others that don't give credit to the resin supplier.
Point being, "Teflon" and ceramic RESIN finishes are very common on new mfg guns.

Better than blue, but still not as good as hard chrome.
