new to the forums, i have browsed here before for info and i finally decided to sign up, mainly to get info on the GSG-5.

first off, im 27, and a transplant from NY like alot of people in Northeast PA.
when i moved out here, i was able to get my CC, along with my father. he started working for a local jail, and they were training and using SIG-P229's so he decided to go out and buy a SIG. he has never owned a pistol before. he ended up with a P220 .45 LE trade-in and loves it. shortly after, he purchased a SIG-P226 9mm LE trade-in for me for christmas, and he bought himself a new SIG-P229 .40. I love the pistol. ive put about 3,000 roudns thru it without a single hiccup. its not picky on ammo, and shoots dead on. the first thing i did was add some Hogue wrap around finger grips, and they have helped my shooting alot.

initially, i was going to go for my ACT 235 for a place i had worked, but then they had backed out on it, even after i had spent quite a bit of money on a SSIII retention holster, and all the duty gear. so now the 9mm is my CC weapon, even tho its bulky, and my range gun.

I also have a Stevens Arms Model 416 .22LR that is not marked US Property. the rifle is a tack driver and is a pleasure to shoot.

my father also has a few antique guns including a Mauser K98, and a Springfield 1863 Rifle and a Mossberg 500 for HD.

im glad to have found this place, and all the knowledge it offers to a first timer. the Air Force had trained me on the M-16 and the Beretta, but not in depth, so all i know about pistols i have taught myself.

my next purchase is a toss up between an SKS that i want to make into a Tactical style rifle, or a GSG-5.

Welcome to PAFOA,

Glad you found our site to be informative. That is what we strive for.
Any questions you might have, don't be afraid to ask or jump into a conversation.

Nice choices on the Sigs, they are great guns, and I am looking to get the P226 9mm myself.
I also have a GSG-5, so I can tell you it is one of my best investments. It is made extremely well, handles great, very comfortable, impressively accurate and cheap to shoot.
I probably shoot it more than any of my other firearms. I would recommend it anyone...

See ya around,
Ronnie

Hi All,

Norm Glitz from Noo Joisey. Born in Chicago, spent a decade or so flying the AF's toys and they spit me out in upstate NY. Followed my job to NJ. I'm a regular bullseye shooter in NJ, eastern PA and Camp Perry. And an occasional HP rifle shooter with a homebuilt AR. And a mediocre air Postol competitor (can't seem to break out of expert).

Member of Citizens' Rifle & Revolve Club in East Windsor NJ. And the NRA, of course.

I used to shoot at the 118 range, but I haven't been since it re-opened. Plus, I just read a post that there is no more 12-15 yard targets?!?! Now I'm not sure where to go. How bout you?
